Someone a long time ago lined these three cans up. Maybe for shooting, maybe just to clean the place up, or maybe it was a just a kid playing around. Who knows... A switch plate that was taken out of a close by old fallen down building that appears to have been used some time ago for target practice. An old ceramic insulator for an electrified fence. Sunset over the train tracks on the north border of Oatka Park This Pontiac was found back from the north bank of the Oatka Creek. It is sitting near what appears to be a processing site for the old gypsum mine across the creek. A bolt that once attached an upper support of an old railroad bridge to its concrete foundation on the north bank of the Oatka Creek. Supposedly this railroad served a gypsum mine on the south side of the Oatka Creek in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Looking upstream at the Paper Mill Falls. The bridge at the top of the falls is covered with graffiti likely because of its easy access. The water at the bridge's base is only 4-6 inches deep. This bridge is only used for foot traffic now, but it appears to of either been part of the mill or an old road bridge. Beyond the foot bridge is the current road bridge which has an old mill grinding stone carved from rose colored granite on each of its sides. Oatka park has some remnants of what used to be a train stop for the gypsum mine that used to be located there. This photo is what looks to be the wall of either an old storehouse or possibly where the small gauge train engine was stored.
